2021 Supply Chain Authenticity Project

In season 2021 we were fortunate to part of a Supply Chain Authenticity project, collaborating with NSW DPI, Palotus Group, Freshchain, GS1, Food Agility CRC, Oratain, Woolworths and Cherry Growers Australia.

The trial had a number of components firstly creating a mechanism where biosecurity incursions, natural disasters and food safety breaches could potentially be monitored in real time and identify properties along the supply chain and track items back to individual producers and properties that may be at risk in the event of an incident.

Also the use of a unique QR code placed on every punnet of cherries enabled direct customer engagement and provided a digital traceability system to provide the consumer with a direct feedback mechanism on the product they just purchased, engage the consumer with a video of the farmer, which is the one above, provide recipes and show provenance, where their food has come from.

We were very grateful to be included in this trial and thank all those involved.
